My original flock of ten girls two years ago started out laying regular med-large sized eggs. NO pullet eggs, period. Never saw one till my next batch of girls.
My next batch started with the pullet eggs and many have continued to lay small eggs after months of laying. My Lt. Brahma girl will be a year old the first week of February. She began laying at 19.5 weeks and is still laying medium sized eggs. Brahmas take a long time to get their egg sizes up, I hear. My original flock all lay extra large to jumbo eggs now routinely but that does come with some age for most chickens. And all my breeds within my original flock, except one girl, lay really big eggs: RIRs, SLWs, Barred Rocks, Buff Orps. This year has been different in so many ways, including the starting ages for laying of all breeds in the younger groups.
