6+ White French Production Muscovy Hatching Eggs
This is a French improved breeding stock that will produce birds which are 50% larger than our American Muscovy. This strain is solid white except for a dark spot on the crown of the head which is lost after first molt; bill, legs and feet are a very light orange that matures to "flesh color"; caruncles are cherry red in males while females are red fading to orange once laying begins. Hens are seasonal layers in colder climates, laying an average of 5 - 6 eggs each per week during the spring and summer begining at 5 months. In warmer climates (ie: Florida) I hear that they lay year round. Eggs require 35 days of incubation and results are vastly improved when using a broody hen (chicken or waterfowl) - I'm getting nearly 100% hatch rate letting mama do all the work.

Drakes usually attain a live weight of 12 pounds in 12 weeks. My typical dressed weights: Hens 3.5 to 4.5 lb. and drakes 8 - 10 lb. (most dress at 9 lbs). High in meat-to-bone ratio, with less weight loss after cooking than Pekin ducks. Low in fat with a wonderful veal-like texture and flavor.

These birds have a great deal of personality. Once socialized they enjoy interacting with humans and are non-agressive within the flock and with people and pets. My drakes love attention, they know their names and respond affectionately when spoken to. The hens are very broody and excellent mothers. They're fairly tractable, enjoy a nice neck rub, and are very food driven so will happily eat out of your hand.
