3 week old chick was fine this morning but now is very weak and unstable and flipping head back when picked up. First noticed very large crop with squishy gurggling feel from crop when touched. Bedded with playground sand and some sort of shavings but not cedar. Now in different brooder on paper towels. Very afraid its going to die what can we do????

ok I hope we are on the right track we messaged the crop and fed a little yougurt. she seems to be doing better. But any help would be great. Thanks

yogurt and massage is good. there are many posts about dealing with crop problems on this site you could do a search for.
Biggest worry seems your chick is so young, maybe try runny scrambled eggs to get more dense nutrients in her.
Unless you can feel hard objects in crop it should go down with soft foods and massage.
I'm pretty new to chickens, but had some crop probs myself so I hope this helps, good luck!

Sounds like you're on the right track. Keep up the good work.

It seems to be working we have 3 total and the youngest one is doing better and we have two older chicks and one still has a soft crop so we are feeding srambled eggs and doing some message. So thank you for your help.

How long before we give the grain back to them?
