Larkwell Valley (2023)

Moved the girls into an empty shed and threw in half a bag of shavings. None of rhe birds I've kept in the house with foot issues have made a recovery, while I managed to get two to survive when they were in the mini barn, so I'm hoping if they have lots of space to walk, that the exercise helps.

A$$hole joined them, her feet were starting to freeze. One of the Crickets has something going on, I'm a little nervous she had a blood clot move from her foot over night. Her vision isn't great, her balance is wonky at times and her head/neck trembles when she is awake. I still will knave a space for her if she doesn't go downhill and need to go, but I'm not sure she's going to just bounce back either with all that.

Loony and the other Cricket were a box of angry feather cobras, so they were funny. All were very happy to go into the shed, A$$hole was not pleased when I shut the door though amd she couldn't leave

Cricket seems to be doing better. Still a little tremble and some vision issues, but she has her balance back and is acting like a normal duck now.

Expecting some webbing loss and probably some toenails, but nothing sending alarm bells blaring yet

Predator is back. Grabbed Loony last night without a whisper or feather. Honestly not sure if that was for the best, honestly. She likely was going to be put down, and with how quiet this thing is catching and taking them, I can't imagine she was any more afraid or in pain than if I'd had to do it myself

Cricket 1 is probably going to be put down too. A$$hole seemes to be doing better and Cricket 2 is just fine as far as I can tell now.
Spoke too soon. A-hole and Cricket 1 were put down today. Both were going to end up losing their feet and I couldn't make them wait another week if they went bad before then. Really hurts, especially Ahole.

I think come spring, I'm going to sell my 3 hens. The two I was most attached to are gone, so yeah.

Darn birds. Already found 2 broody hens and their nests. And they're getting smarter in hiding them.

Lot has happened.

Sold my three scovies yesterday. Was and still am hurting a bit, but it sounds like they went somewhere just perfect for then so I have to be happy for them, especially Pebble. Poor girl has wanted a boyfriend since Moose was snatched and now she has multiple polite Misters to choose from.

I'm down to a reverse trio of calls, I'll be keeping my tiny mystery duck with them so it's at least a 1:1 ratio.

My chocolate runners were stupid, and a hen ended up breaking her knee. The male sprained his. Think they tumbled down one of the hills while outside (they're not as good navigating down those as the normal shaped ducks). They're all penned up now, but I'm still not sure with the female. She moves just fine, but I don't know if the bad leg will be a hindrance during breeding season.
