First chick is out. Has a couple Of small pieces of shell stuck to it. Maybe they will come off as she dries. (Using she in hopes that is what she is.)![]()
I just started my flock last fall, they just started laying a couple weeks ago, so no one has gone broody yet, and I really don't want anyone to. lol I have no interest yet in having broody hens. I'd rather do the incubating myself where I can meddle more....lolI will remember that next time AmyLynn. They took a long time to fluff, especially since the humidity shot way up while hatching.
Out of curiosity, do any of you let your hens hatch eggs? I have a white silkie and a Salmon Faverolle sitting on silkie eggs because my incubator was full. Assuming they hatch them, do I take them away from mom and the surrogate mom once they start moving around? To explain, the Faverolle went broody and has no rooster so I gave her some fertile eggs.
