Last 3 days in incubator for newbie

400
yay!!

The piece of shell came off and I tried to wash off any membrane on her feathers with warm water. She seemed to have plenty of strength. She doesn't seem to have a lot of feathers. How long does it take them to dry off? But she is back in the bater and I hear her chirping. Gonna say a little prayer for her.

Turns out one little chick is all I got out of 7. I'm happy to say she is 3 weeks old and doing fine. While she was still in the brooder I went to town and bought her 6 sisters so she wouldn't be lonely. So glad she is a she.

I don't know why but I have lost all of my emoticons. :-(

Built some new pens yesterday/today was able to tell the sex of my almost 3 week old quail. Ended up with 10 female and 7 male. 97 more going into lockdown in a few minutes. What have I gotten myself into? Haha

I've heard of chicken math, but quail math must be something more severe~ LOL Good luck!

Well I just went to check my incubator. It must have had an issue because the temp was 111. I bet I killed all of my eggs. I ended up taking the top off and tried to cool it down a bit. Refilled the water and put the top back on. So disappointed because I figure it was too warm for at least 5 hours. Any chance of a hatch at this point? Hatch day was supposed to be Saturday.

Hmmmm quail eggs being so small, that warm could heat them up more quickly, I would think. But this close to the end, what have you got to lose by waiting it out? I suppose you could water candle one and see if it still wiggles? I'll hope with you that they are ok. Maybe it wasn't that hot for that long???

Day 14 1 had 32 eggs down originally doqn to 18...i think I'll definitely hand turn next time. :-(
