Has to be a baby chick, but it can have all the feathers.
It doesn't have to be momma and the baby, it could be dadda!

Our barnevelder, Penny, first time first time to go broody and hatch some eggs - only 7 months old. She's a great mother. She hatched 6 eggs - 5 australorps & 1 light brahma. We also snuck another barred rock chick in there with no problem and she ended up raising 7 babies.
