Last Hatch was an utter failure! I need some advice on good hatches.

I have no auto egg turner. So opening it 3 times a day is a must.

And also I have no hatcher. But I am planning on building one in the next week or so, off of some plans I got on here.

Thanks everyone for the advice. *writes list*

What are you using for a thermometer? Are you positive its accurate? It seems like 90% of the time, if your eggs are developing but not hatching, its too much humidity.

You definately need one. If I filled the trays on my incubators like the directions say I'd never get a chick to hatch because they'd all drown. I barely put any water in mine and the humidity runs right at 30% for the first eighteen days.

I have an expensive Science thermometer. So I'm pretty sure it is accurate.

But thanks. I will surely get a humidity reader. That seems like it would help a bunch!

I can't gaurantee anything, but this is wat I would do. Have a claen incubater and a good thermometer anf hygrometer. If you don't start with these, you are wasting eggs and time. Set your still air at 102. Hand turning is fien, that's what I do,but with a still air,you may have to move the eggs around fromtme to time. I keep the humidity low, between 40 and 50 and sometimes let it drop into the 30s. I increase it to 60 on day 19. They pop out like pop corn. Good luck!!

You can go to walmart and get one of these, it reads the temperature and humidity both, cost $6.00.
