Just for the record guys, I'm not a guy. Not commenting on your parenting skills or protecting your animals, and of course the copperhead is understandable, it just hits a soft spot when the little harmless guys get picked off simply for being around. Also most things I state I do to everyone who could be reading and not just the original poster, as there are far too many people who kill every single one they come across. I also dont see a point for killing something just because it might ruffle some feathers and bother the birds a little.
I can guarentee you your kid is going to be in a lot more pain when he scrapes a knee or stubs a toe with more risk of infection then a bite from any North American non venomous snake. A snake that size would be lucky to even break skin. Its much more of a shock then anything.
All I'm simply trying to get at is that in many cases these guys dont need to be killed when a simple toss in the bushes would solve the problem.
Plus I have a thing for copperheads I just love how they look, I need to find someone willing to freeze and ship to me what they get so at least its not being wasted.
P.S. Remember just because I try to discourage killing snakes doesnt mean I'm a bad person, a lot of people here seem to be taking what I say way too personally and feels like theyre starting to actually dislike me. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I just love our legless neighbors just as you all like your birds.
