Late Winter Quilt Block Swap -----> March 1 due date

Okay, I've read every post from the beginning. Never got interested in any type of social media until I got my chickens! I'd love to join the swap but question- when blocks are finished who/ when do we send them? Each person pays to ship, gets an address for someone by pm etc? I'm not new to quilting just new to swaps and most anything social! Lol

Hi Cknldy, I'm the swap mistress on this thread, and when your blocks are done, just PM me, and I'll give you my address. Everyone sends their blocks to me, and I make sure all are divided correctly, then I send them back in a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope.

NOTE: PO doesn't like to use the printed ones, as the dates don't match and it looks like they've allready been used. So you've got to send stamps in the amt it costs to ship your blocks too me, with a large envelope. :D

This is the only social media I take part in too.

Thanks. When I send to you I will add a bit extra on return postage just in case swap blocks weigh slightly more than what I make. I'm so excited that I immediately started searching and drawing up blocks to make! Good luck everyone.

I use the priority mail envelopes, and purchase another one and fold it up and put it in the whole package, the motto is if it fits it ships for one price, and the guy behind the counter had to tape mine shut because it was so full, but all was in there. So that is a possibility for you too.

Thanks. I have about 5 blocks graphed out so I got started on cutting. I got so excited about someone other than me seeing the blocks and....I cut the first twenty squares 2 1/2 instead of 1 1/2 for a 12 (and 1/2 for seams) inch block! Lol, I'll have to pay closer attention and glad I didn't get all of them done before realizing my layout was double the size.

Don't feel too bad, on my 1st chicken swap I had to add on tot he edges. I made the rules, but I still made a few 12 x 12 inch blocks before I realized it.

here's the layout of 1st block. I saw the cross stitch pattern and turned it into a pieced quilt pattern. When sewn together the 1/4 seams bring it to the correct size. I read the 'late winter chicken block swap' marty hosted. Variety was amazing. So it brings me to this- do all blocks 1 person makes have to be the same pattern so everyone gets the same type of block or mix the pattern for different blocks? Opinions from the swappers please. The same unless otherwise stated in rules?

Cknldy, that block looks impressive!
And about mixing patterns, I don't usually do that for a swap- but only because once I (finally) get cutting the pieces, I try to get them all done. And multiple patterns would confuse me, keeping all the pieces separate but where I could find them. I have no problems with mixing up the colors within a set block, so that the blocks aren't identical.
I'm up to six blocks done, and each time I check the measurements and let out a sigh of relief when they're actually 12 1/2 X 12 1/2!

I love it. So many little pieces! I haven't tried a postage stamp quilt yet.

I started making a wonky ladder block for this one and it was immediately claimed so I have to get more fabric and start another one.
