lathargic and area around face smells sour...

I have a wonderful (aren't they all) buff brama rooster who is acting very ill. He is lathargic, won't eat much (tried all his favorites), breathing hard, one eye somewhat closed and the area around his face smells "sour". Poos are runny opaque white/beige color. Does anyone have any suggestions?
