I have a chick that is really weak. He hatched at 2:30 today and even now can either pick his head up or his bottom but not both at the same time for more than a sec. I was told to give a couple drops of Pedialyte with sugar. HOW OFTEN?

Leave him for now, he is still absorbing the yolk sac and will be ok regarding food, its better to leave im in the incubator and let him rest, he may just be tired it took him a lot of work to get out.

If he is in the brooder already then you might want to put him back in the incubator.

He was pretty dry. and my humidity was really high so I opened the top vent a bit and dropped a smidge of sugared pedialyte to him/her. it drank just a drop and went back to sleep. I am not going to worry to much about it. I am sure it is just resting. It hatched really quick today so it may have just tuckered out Now If my two pipped would just UNZIP! They have been pipped dince midday but seem like they are resting. They have there beeks sticking out through the pip holes and are steady breathing. ???? Hope that is normal...

You opened the lid? Maybe I misread

If you have pips, please do not open the incubator lid what-so-ever.

I made that mistake a few days ago. Your eggs could get shrink wrapped,

and not hatch, or require a little help, which is not fun. As far as their little beaks

sticking out, it's normal.

Good luck

I am going to warn you ahead of time so I can prevent you having a heart attack. Sleeping chicks appear to be dead. Face down, legs out, takes a lot to wake them, DEAD. They are not. I still have to scare mine to make sure they are alive. Freaked me completely out my first time with chicks.
