I don't make the liquid one; I use: l bar of felsnapa soap, ground up ~ 2 cups of 20 mule team borax ~ 2 cups of washing soda ~ 1 cup of a dry bleach (I like Biz) and I also started adding 1 cup of the Oxyclean. I have been getting $1 off coupons for it, and there is enough for 2 batches. I blend it all together in a big bowl. I use 1-2 tbsps. because I have a large capacity washer, and love it. Keep it in an airtight container, because it will get hard if the humidity is high. It makes a big batch and I have given it out to my kids and they think its good too. I know I spent probably close to $20 a month on detergents, and with this it might cost $10 for the stuff, but I get two or three batches out of it. When I joined Melaleuca, the lady in charge told me the reason our detergents we buy on the shelf makes such good suds is because its literally BURNING the dirt out of our clothes and that is why our clothes don't last. We blame the mfg.'s when a lot of the time, its the detergents we use. Interesting thought!!!
I make my own fabric softner too, and while its not as good as what you buy, there is NO chemicals to irritate or make allergic, its cheap and I just like messing with this stuff.
