Lav x Black offspring

A black split is a black bird carrying the recessive lavender gene.

Meaning that the bird's genotype is (Lav,lav). Because lav is a recessive gene, there will be no visible indication that the bird carries a copy of the gene. The only way you will know if from breeding. If one parent was pure lav, all offspring will carry at least one copy. If a lavender offspring occurs, you'll know that each parent contributed a copy.​
 
I'm not ready anyway. It's too darned cold to hatch chicks now.

I plan on moving my incubators into a seperate room in a month or two and hanging them at eye level on the wall.
