Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

Awesome! I expect nothing so each pic will be a gift. I find people always ask pullet or cockerel so many people may find this helpful to sex this breed. And I consider you the expert ;)

Happy to help! :)

Thank you for the compliment. I do not consider myself to be an expert. I would consider the breeders that initially bred the color and have worked with it from the very beginning to be the experts. :) Sadly, some of those breeders stopped working with the color along the way. Those that have remained have been gracious enough to lend an ear, answer all of my breeding questions, and provide me with birds and hatching eggs from their flocks over the years. I have also read all of the forums relating to lavenders from the beginning to end. I still produce culls, as do other breeders. The most common faults that people tend to encounter with lavenders is leakage in males and feather fretting. I have been studying those problems in depth over the last few months, and am excited about my plans in my lavender pens. If you ever have any questions, send me a pm and I am happy to answer them. There are a few people out there that have paved the way for the Ameraucana breed, and I am so thankful for them!

I'm looking to buy LA pullets, preferably 6-8 months, but will consider all ages! I lost all my girls to a predator and would rather not have to start again from hatching eggs. My two roos are just as impatient as me, lol.

Thanks!

Well my only Lavender is a cockerel. I am going to have to hatch more soon to get my Lavender breeding project off the ground.
Tell me what you think of him.

Do I have a lavender roo? We got it at 14 weeks under the assumption it was a hen.
This isn't a lavender Ameraucana, but best of luck with your bird. :) You can view the proposed standard for lavender/self blue Ameraucanas at ameraucanabreedersclub.org. There are also a few pictures of birds on there. Hope that helps!
