I'm headed down to Knoxville this weekend for the Dixie Classic. I just finished bathing 9 birds and am give out! Unfortunately most of my lavender/self blue flock is molting, but I am taking two hens to the show this weekend! Hope to see some of you folks there!!!

Lindsay, I talked to Susan earlier... she's keeping watch on the FB page in case the Dixie Classic gets canceled... due to the wildfire devastation to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg... so far they say it's still ago, but just wanted to give you a heads up...

Thank you for letting me know! I plan to travel down to Knoxville early Friday afternoon. My husband has to work until noon and then we are going to hit the road. Let me know if you hear anything!

I went ahead and bathed the ones I plan to carry just in case. I would have preferred to wash the whites tomorrow night (they get dirty so fast!), but we have church, and I have a feeling I'll be tired after a busy day of chasing the kids. I guess at least I'm not running behind schedule...yet.....

I hope everyone is doing well! I took a few self blue/lavender hens to the Dixie Classic show in Knoxville earlier this month. One of my self blue hens took home best of variety. I'll attach a pic for fun, and another photo of one of our hens that I took a few days ago to keep the thread moving.

Several of our hens have finished molting and are gradually starting to lay again. Right now I am in the process of hatching small batches of self blue chicks from my favorite cock this past season. Hoping to get an early start on the grow out pens. Our winters are relatively mild in the south. Here are some chicks that hatched today! Happy holidays everyone!
