Lavender Ameraucana is this a male or female

I thought my lavender was a hen the whole time but it turned out to be a rooster :(
You can compare his younger pictures with your lavender maybe?

as he got older.....

What I noticed was that his neck area is super puffy compared to my EE and other chickens
and then now he crows and tries to mate. His comb gets huggeeee!

Hey FuzzyButtsFarm, another "semi" retired nurse here trying to raise my new 4 Lav. Ameraucana chicks! I have been on "Weird Rooster Behaviour" trying to get help on my VERY aggressive B/S Amercaucana Roo. Boy is he a handful! I am getting some great help on that thread. But would also like to follow this thread on the Lav Ameraucana's.

Boy in that last one I can even tell he's a Roo, but before that I would not be able to tell. Of course I am new to the Lav A's!!!

It's been a while since I worked with Ameraucana's, but I would also say that both of the birds in question appear to be young males. I say that based on the size of the comb, definition of the comb, and general redness to the face/comb area.

Pretty sure I have 1 Roo in my little brood of 4 "hens" I ordered. Always quoted a 25% fall out rate. I love them all. They are about 14 weeks now and very lovey. They follow me around. They know their manners with my other 3 adult hens (not Lavenders), and run away and don't challenge their big Sisters. These are my first Lavenders and I am loving them!!

Just got my first egg from one of my four Ameraucana "females"!! The sweetest little teal egg! They are 23 weeks old, and I still can't tell if I have a Roo. Ordered 4 females, but realize there is at least a 25% chance I have one. I have my suspicions which one it is. But very excited about the little baby egg! fullsizeoutput_66e.jpeg
