Why does he not crow? He is now about 18 or 19 weeks and I have yet to hear him crow. He is actually very skittish, and not aggressive at all. I guess most people might be happy hes quiet, but I was kind of looking forward to it. He is the only rooster in my flock of 16, and he was bought as a hen 😂😂

Some just take a little longer than others to start crowing.
His first crow may not be very impressive. When my rooster was first trying to figure the crow thing out, I would tell him to try again. He would then get a good crow out, after congratulating him, he would swagger around the ladies 🙄
I hope that crow comes soon... you will love it!!

Maybe he's upset because that you didn't spell his breed correctly? lol It's Lavender Orpington by the way. Orpingtons generally mature later. You didn't say whether your cockerel was bred to English or American-type, but English take even longer to mature. The APA-type Lavenders I had weren't crowing at five months when I sold them off. My English Orpington males of various color varieties usually start crowing about six months, although I've had some not crow until nine.

I mean maybe! Though in my defense my phone changed it to that🤣🤣 Good info either way! Thanks.

Are you positive it is a cockerel? Other than a few wonky tail feathers, I'm not seeing definite signs that it is male. By that age it should be pretty obvious.

But maybe he is just a slow developer, which would explain his timidness and lack of crowing. In that case you just need to be patient.
