lavender orphingtons

I honestly dont know if Greenfire Farms did get some of Jody's birds....all I know they do have Chocolate Orps under their website. It would not be surprising if it is from her stock. Many of them are project birds. If I want the real thing, I would go to Jody for her Lav Orps, save yourself the aggravation and time to get to the correct Lav color and correct Orp type.

I think Jody would sell hers much higher, depending on the color and quality of the bird. I do remember she said she is not going to sell her stock for a little while until they do get to their goal they need like in consisent in type and so forth.

Shipping can be done! However it runs usually from $45 to 65 dollars a bird, particuarly if it is a full grown roo.

If you really want to have the Lavs and got the room, you can get a Lav roo and buy more Black Orps hens/pullets for much cheaper price and you have keep those offsprings to get your Lavenders consisent.

Lots of folks have project lav orps. Look around. I'm sure you can find a better price on the same quality. There are also several people working diligently on our line to make it better, including us. Those are the birds I would hold out for, imo. But if you're looking for a jump start and interesting in working on them (meaning..recrossing them back to good quality black orps), then buy from the earlier generations that are out there and have fun with it. Don't spend more than YOU think is fair and what you can afford, regardless of who the seller is. It is all up to the buyer in the end.

A black roo over a lav hen and a lav roo over a black hen will produce all black chicks that carry the lavender gene. Lavender is recessive, so it takes 2 generations until it is visual.

hink, I love your birds, I don't know how I missed them before. I wish I had one of you black roos, I am getting one in October from a guy here in Indiana, he will be about 6 months old, if he doesn't turn out as well as expected, I will contact you and place an order
