Here is my roo

Lav will breed as black.

Check out this calculator... the second drop down tab is in English but won't account for any color leakage...

Looks like you will get 50% black and 50% blue chicks... likely with some leakage in them.

I'm thinking rose comb is dominant.. so most *may* have rose comb.

Also, I can tell by looking that is still a young cockerel... I wait for a little maturity to help avoid deformities from the reproductive system working it's kink out. Usually at LEAST 2 months after they start to lay and their eggs get more regular sized.

For hatching, especially in dual purpose breeds I recommend a feed with not less than 18% protein and oyster shell on the side free choice. I NEVER use layer feed. Purina flock raiser with 20% protein is what I use, but I no have no brand loyalty. It's what is available at a price I can afford and with a fresh mill date that meet all the needs of all my birds including chicks, roosters, broody's, layers, molting, even ducks, and so on at a happy medium, again OS is on the side.

I have seen many broody Wyandottes... maybe she will even raise chicks for you! I won't let them sit or raise chicks until at least 1 year old since their bodies are still growing and minds are still maturing. Some people do... but I'm VERY picky about my stock and their condition. :)

Hope you have a wonderful adventure! :wee
