My results are in. My Marans rooster is not getting the job done. One whole incubator infertile. But I do have 35 Easter Eggers. Just moved to the outdoor brooder

please don’t @ me about the lamp it’s a stand alone brooder not near any structures and it’s too cold out right now for just the sweeter heater and there is no place to keep them in the house.

I don't have eggs yet, but I am planning on doing a St. Patrick's day hatch-a-long Setting eggs on Feb 24th 2025. They will be Lavender Orpingtons from a friend's farm, some for me and some for him.

The chicks are now 4 weeks. I built a bigger pen for them outside, no power, but they are off the ground. Below is the lids off so you can see what's going on. I used a dresser with drawers removed for main area, with matching boards for the run. (Long outside boards to the right and left of my coop are just extra and are not nailed to coop )

I chose a spot that has sun and shade. Above is day lids, I have some screens, a glass mini door close, a permanent tin roof to the back. At night I will cover with boards.

The chicks hanging out, of the chicks I kept 14, and will raise them all sort them later. They just discovered a nipple bucket. (Open so I can pic them.)
