Lavender Orpington Enthusiast

Posting of this Orp site is really going around to other sites too....Hmmmm...must be something in the water....

Lavs are a seperate color breed...not from a blue/black/splash and are just being worked on in the states from my understandings since I been following Orps and breeding programs....

I know the black freckling in the hackles along with straw colored hackles too. I cant wait to see some really, really nice ones that are comparable to the black. I think if we all work together we will have nice ones just as good as the UK ones. Long road to go though, that's why I worked so hard on getting all those black lines, so I would have birds to cross out too.

You cant get lavenders form blue/splash. You have to have the lavender gene and blue is not good to breed in them due to the variation of shades.

John, I was refering to the breeders on the Orpington forum.

Waiting for approval! I love the lav orps that I've seen. Someday when I can have roos, I would love to work on some. For now, I'll be happy adding some blue/splash/black orps to my hens.
