Lavender Orpington project ....

Thanks for sharing the link to your photos. I can see the mottled is almost hard to see on the lavender birds. Doesn't pop as much as on the blue or black birds. Have you tried the blue mottled yet? I've seen that in the cochin's and it's pretty stunning.

One of my split blk/lav girls just started squatting today when I went to pet her! Yeah!! I hope that means they will lay soon. I haven't seen the roos trying to mate them yet though.

That's usually a good sign eggs are coming soon.

My older "keeper" pullet. She's about 3 months old. Being added in from an outside line of orps.

My roo. I like him and he usually has a better tail but the geese have been teething on it!

I hatched these on July 10th, from my Lavender pen. This is my project pen. I have Lavender rooster over Lavender girls, 1 Black Orp (now out of the pen), and 3 Light Sussex girls. More to hatch this weekend.

Some of these are the Lavender over Light Sussex chicks. They hatch out black. I will mate them together and the next generation will have some Coronation pullets. Coronation mutt pullets (not pure Coronation Sussex, I know)...

So cute Kathy!

Here are the first of our new generation. Against my better judgment I pulled these early birds out of the hatcher. I will post more pics once the hatch is complete.
