Lavender Orpington project ....

HappyMtn Thank you for the prompt reply. Your chick price is reasonable what about eggs? I already have an order in for so BBS Orpingtons else where that I will be picking up at the Lake City show. ( English ) I will be looking for some Lavender Orpingtons in A month or so.

Only birds I have seen that were close to US standard were ones that had English blood in them. The English Orpington can help out alot in getting the size up and working on getting them to standard.

Still waiting on eggs from my wildhorsefarms girl, and as soon as I get fertility proven eggs will probably be $2 each. I don't have a big flock though, so probably have to sell in mixed dozens.

See- that's what I am hoping to acheive. Its like trying to get australorps to look like orps, you need to add some hefty orp blood, no?

I absolutely, positively, LOVE the English type. I have no plans to show, I just want to raise some nice birds. I have a few nice HinkJC blacks and a couple of blue part English pullets right now. I'll definitely be watching for your listing. I almost got some from Joy way back, but I really, really couldn't afford it so had to cancel. Sure made me sad to do that. But then, again, I'm not mad about any pricing, just that I couldn't pay it.

That is essentially what you might be doing... depending on the blood you have.

No, I worded that badly. I just meant not to sell one as the finished product if it's not. Maybe that says it better.

I'm sure there are a lot more of us out here that aren't in to showing that would gladly take your worthless culls off your hands to give them good homes.

I think to be able to call it Lavender Orpington, you have to have it actually look like an Orpington. Otherwise you should just call it Lavender birds or Project Lavender Orpingtons (Which to me means that you actually had to work on them).
