I got a year old lavender orpington rooster yesterday. He is beautiful! And friendly. His name is Mr. Darcy (after the character in Pride & Prejudice.) He has a creamy beigey/yellow color in some of his hackles that I didn't think lavenders were supposed to have. Not complaining... I adore this rooster and we'll keep him regardless. Just wondering what this means about his genetics. Do you think it means he's not pure breed, or maybe just a recessive gene coming out?

Thank you! I'd read some of the lavender orp threads but hadn't seen it discussed yet, so thought I'd ask.

:)

I've spent waaaaaaaaaay too much time on the Orp threads, LOL!

I understand!

We've owned several breeds of chickens and I keep coming back to the orpingtons. They are just the best, IMHO.
