Lavender Orpington struggles!!!

Hello everyone!

We have had three of our lavender chicks die within the past month They seemed to be growing at a much slower rate than the rest of our chicks even though they were getting the same food/water/love. The rest of our girls (all 12 of them) are doing great now at about 6 weeks.

I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with this breed! They were my mom's favorite and we were very sad to see them go.

I'm so sorry to hear you've lost some of your babies! If you're raising them alongside other chicks and they just don't seem to be thriving it could be a genetic issue from the flock they were bred from. This can happen with any breed really, but some are more prone to issues than others. I haven't had problems with my Lavender Orpingtons but I did just hatch several Mottled Orpingtons and they unfortunately seems to have some sort of genetic/health issue and have failed to thrive like the other breeds I hatched alongside them and I lost several.
