Lavender Orpington Thread

Orpingtons are generaly a friendly bird and great layers! I only have 2 breeds right now that i want to breed..Silver Laced Wyandotte and the Lavender Orpington! Atho i have a buff orpington aswell but she is retired.
I think itll be well worth the money, with the eggs and selling chicks!

Yeah.... It sure does look like you do have 3 rooster and 2 hens! And im pretty sure of it!

Dont worry about that! They look 100% pure to me! Sometimes it takes a little bit more time for chickens to mature! You got some pretty looking chickens! You guys BOTH have very pretty and attractive looking chicks! OH, and Coupe, I saw that add on Ebay (where you got your chicks) they looked pretty promising to me! You should ask them if it is normal for their chicks to mature a bit slower then others! Otherwise there is nothing to worry about!

Their dark gray is slowly coming in, just slowly..they have alot more than when tjey hatched! And yes , the lady i got them from has some amazing looking lavenders!! Her Roo is huge!
Do you have LO's?

HECK YEAH I HAVE LAVENDER ORPINGTONS! I was the one who started this thread! And if you look at the beginning of this thread you will see a TON of pictures of my Lavender Orpingtons! I only have 6 of them though... But I should soon be able to breed them! They are about 6 months old now! And my two roosters are starting to mess around with the other hens in my flock... if you get what im saying

! I think we are getting some fertile eggs now! But the roosters are not breeding with the right hens!!! And if they were to start breeding with my LO's we would get nothing, because my LO hens are not laying yet! We should be able to breed them within the next month or two maybe! CANT WAIT

Oh and I will take some current pictures of them soon (maybe tomorrow if you are lucky)

I have a question about lavender orpingtons....... well, a few actually.
What is the genetics behind the lavender colour?
I live in Canada and have been unsuccessful finding a source for lavender orpingtons, and was wondering if anyone knew of hatching eggs for sale in Canada?
Also, Black orpingtons - hard to find.
Please, any input is very welcome.
Thanks!!
