I like Mr. Green band too.
He looks sassy.

That he does! Almost like he's going for one part "I'm a MO-DEL (You know what I mean!)" and one part "YOU TALKING TO ME!?" but he's winding up more like a spirited Blue Steel from Zoolander. He even looks like you caught him doing his little turn on the catwalk (yeah, on the catwalk!) when you snapped that picture.

I so dated myself with this comment.

Time gets away so fast. It's awfully LATE in the season to set eggs, but I just put 30 in the incubator. Toward the end of the month we will see what happens. I'll save eggs from next week and set them next weekend -- but that other incubator may be on the fritz.
According to the chicken calculator 25% of any hatches should be double-barred males. The premise is that double barring on males will produce the headspot to indicate -- (drum roll please) autosexing - lavender patterned Isabel duckwing - barred DF.

As I downsize, there are two LPID roos here. Both of them ("BB" and "Twin's son") are big boys. They both hare heavy and robust....like they are little turkeys instead of an egg breed....(of course someone with real turkeys wouldn't see the comparison)
Both have outgrown their leg bands:

Just the normal sized leg

bands, but beginning to indent their legs. Not grown in, but too tight for certain. Here's "BB" prior to removal.... Doesn't he look like a big strapping guy? Wings out a bit due to heat that day. The other guy is even bigger.

This pose, this view -- shows his fairly clean bar on his 'duckwing'.

Another view showing his wing-patterns, and tail barring.

Guys...I'm worried that my incubator has been running too hot. -- Seems like I kept seeing 38.3C a lot. I have turned the temp down and now it is more consistent 38.... Hope I didn't already cook the embryos. Candling will be on the weekend.
