I agree about just dumping in the grass clippings, it doesnt take very long for it to heat up, but if you spread it out just a little the chickens will do the rest and you can hardly keep them out of it to spread it out. When I feed hay to my lama, she has to be very careful because the chickens and ducks love to eat the hay as she is eating also.
