Law mower cuttings?

I was thinking this myself. I don't give grass clippings for this reason. I don't want it balling up in their crops.

And about the free ranging. The definition of a free range egg is that the chicken who laid it has free access to an outdoor space. Obviously that's for eggs in the supermarket, but if you have a coop and run, and the birds are able to leave the coop and have access to the run, then they are free range, as they choose whether or not to go outside.
When I let the birds outside of the run and into the forest or down to the stream, I don't think of it as free ranging more of letting them out for a play.

My chicks are out on the grass all day scratching for bugs and eating grass. I plan on getting a bagger to save some for winter. The main problem causing crop to impact is letting the grass grow to seed, then the long pieces ball up.

Yeah.. thats my concern too.... they showed a BIG ball of nasty grass they pulled out of their chickens crop....

I WANT to give mine cut grass, but i'm worried to do it.... i probably will do it though...

I'm a commercial Gardener and my chickens get all of the lawn cuttings and weeds from my longtime clients. I'm hesitant to use from new clients because I don't know what they are using (pesticide, herbicide, fertilizers etc.) in their gardens.
In the fall, they get all the windfall fruit my clients don't want.
My chickens are pretty spoiled.

Most lawn mower blades are the mulching type, so the clippings are small/short. I use a mulching mower with a bagger and my chickens love it. They are professional compost turners. It is best to cut grass before it gets too tall, anyway. The new growth is more tender and has more nutrients.
