Laws and Ordinances

Two of my neighbors have chickens and I have some on the way, but my dad brought to my attention that we probably have regulations.. Do you think i should ask the city or just go on a "Don't ask, Don't tell" perspective..? Surely i wont get any complaints since there are chickens all around my neighborhood? Ive been doing some research and i cant find anything about my cities laws about having chickens... HELP!

You want to look at zoning ordinances as well as township or county bylaws. Your county website should point you in the right direction. I'm not sure I would call to ask in case the answer is no and you inadvertently cause other people to also lose their chickens but if the rules say no, then be prepared to give them up. In the mean time you can try changing the laws.
