Layer Crumbles vs. Poultry Feed

Looking online for Nutrena poultry feed it seems they have two lines but both have a chick, all flock and a layer blend. Your bag would have a nutrient break down tag on it and that would tell you what it's intended use is. If a 16% protein with over 3% calcium then it's a layer blend, If 18% protein it's an all purpose all flock blend. No worries really you would just need to supplement oyster shells if not a layer blend.

Okay. Thanks. I will check the label to see. I ended up calling the feed store and they assured me it was good for layers. However, I would like to see for myself what the protein/calucium breakdown is.

Hello,
can anyone tell me if crumbles (or any particular type of crumbles, now I have learned there is a difference), will produce feather growth in my chicken where feathers have been pecked out. (Pecking no longer occurring). I seem to recall ducks a friend had were in moult and it went on forever, they even stopped going out on to the pond. I believe crumbles brought their feathers back or was it just a case of timing and they were finishing their moult at that particular time?

Over to the experts!
