Layer pellets for DRAKES???

Mine all eat flock feeder and I supplement the calcium with oyster shell and greens.

I have 2 drakes and 1 duck about 15 weeks old and am thinking about putting them on layer's pellets in a few weeks since I figured my duck could start laying anytime after 17 weeks. If I feed them all layer's pellets do I need to also have a dish of oyster shell out for the duck?

I just feed layers pellets, they do free range and forage through the day so don't if that makes any difference though.

Personally, i would not. For one, you don't know when they will start laying so they don't need it, second there is quite a debate on the excessive calcium being given to drakes.

I opt for free choice oyster shell and a feed that is a grower or an all flock/flock raiser, since i own many drakes.
