Laying capability after 1 year old?

Someone is offering a few quail hens for free on local craigslist, though they are 1 year old. I am thinking about getting them, any suggestion about the laying capability of quail hens after 1 year old, for how long and how many per year will they still be able to lay? is it worth the feed or I should not bother? I don't plan to eat them down the road because of strong resistance when discussing this subject with my wife...

Update: I was just told by the owner they are wild type, so according to the conventional wisdom on this board, I should pass them since I am after eggs. Still would be good to hear some input on the laying capability vs. age.

I would pass on them too.

After a year of laying, they are about worn out, they need a rest. The best egg production is in the first 8 months and after that they lay less, I find.

You'd be better getting point of lay pullets at 6 weeks old for maximin egg production

I agree with Ironsun and since wife is against culling i'd pass them up. Get yourself some quality jumbos keep em for a year then offer them for free to someone else (or sell them as meat birds) then start the process over
