My hens were slow at laying eggs during the winter. But the last couple months they have laid a huge amount of eggs, now the last 2 weeks they have been barely laying eggs.

I also found one of my hens dead this morning, no idea how she died. She didn't have symptoms like the first one.

What were the symptoms of the first one? I'm guessing there was no trauma/broken neck/blood? Parasites a problem: mites, worms, lice? Plenty of water, food, etc? Are you in a hot/cold/wet/dry climate?
NM , I see you are in Pennsylvania.
PS sorry about your hen.

I just got my 3 hens on Saturday, today is Wed. They have yet to lay. How long does it take to get adjusted after a stressful event. They are 1 yr old barred rocks. Will be 13 months old first week of May.
Can be a couple weeks sometimes just from stress of moving. Plus is there another stress also - like a new dog or rooster or noisy environment? Change in food and water will do that too, so maybe you have multiple changes. They will adapt but they do not like 'new' very much. Do you know for certain that they were healthy and laying before you got them?
