Laying issues

I have 5 hens. 2 that are roughly 5YO and 3 that are 4YO. For the winter we open up half of our shed connected to their coop so they have a warm place to roost. In the spring we close it off and they have the run and a small coop. In the begining of spring we started getting eggs and were getting quite a few each day (I think 5), but since we have closed off the shed, we are getting none, or 1 every once in a while. The have made to clear "nests" and that is where I find the occasional egg. Also concerning is that often with the egg is a white gooey substance almost like an egg white (no yolk, not shell, no membrane).
What the heck is wrong with them?

I wonder if they are eating their eggs, or if a predator is eating eggs.
