laying location

This is my first time asking a question on here so bear with me please. I have two new hens that I am going to put with my three that I already have. The two are now layers my three will be laying in one more month The two new ones I have and a smaller cage in the pan with my three. Will the two in the smaller cage lay there eggs or are they under too much stress. This is all new to me thank you

Quarantine would be been a safer option, but too late now. Chickens hate change as much as cats do, so odds are good the ones laying will stop for a few weeks while adjustments take place.

My girls never stopped laying altogether but I went down to two eggs for a couple days, we usually get 3 to 5. There was a lot of change, roo went to freezer camp and I introduced 5 new birds to my flock all in a very short time span. I did so because I wanted all the upset over at once.

I would expect some pecking and you will probably have 2 flocks until your newbies integrate. Try not to get involved and let them work it out unless there's blood involved. Good luck!

How soon do you think I should let my other two in with my three again my three are five months and the new two that I have are just over one year. Should I give it another week away from one another they are in the pin with my three but in a smaller cage.

You're best to leave them within sight of each other so they can grow accustomed to each other. After a week or two you should be able to put them all together. I would do it at night and put them all up on the roost together so they wake up together in the morning. They'll possibly bicker a bit till they get the new hierarchy established but after that should be fine. You'll just have to keep an eye on them for a few days.

I kept my littles in a temporary coop for a bit so everyone could see each other and then gradually let them out. How long have you had your current setup?

It really does depend on the birds. My girls are pretty mellow so the only time I see any pecking is when food is involved. Provide several options for food and water to help that. Also roost time there's some clucking and stuff but no serious fights. If they're already together then you might give it a try to see how they do out of the pen while you can step in if needed. I didn't try putting them on the roost at night so I don't have experience with that option.

Will hens lay their eggs at night. And also my two hens that I have in the pin waiting to join my three have been in their pen for three days and have not laid an egg is that normal. I realize they are under some stress from the move to this new location but shouldn't they be laying eggs.
