I woke up this morning to a loud barking/cawing noise. And I ran downstairs to check my chickens and my uncle told me they were making noise. So I go outside and they are scrambling for food so I feed them and check their nest and there was a warm egg. I know for sure one of my chickens has started laying for a couple days now but she never made a noise like that.! The egg is slightly bigger so could that be why she made such a horrible noise.? Or does laying sometimes hurt then and other times it doesn't.?
Or.! Did my other chicken start laying eggs.?

is a barking noise even normal.?

My chickens will start like a screeching noise about 15 mins before they go to the box to lay. Also a couple of mine sing the egg song BEFORE they lay. Could that if been it?

The egg song.? Haha.! I thought it was a small dog barking but it sounded sort of raspy like when my chickens make noise for food or want to come out their run

A few of mine are completely quiet throughout their laying process. I have a couple drama queens that holler their heads off before, during, and after. Each one has their own personality. I have one that is quiet when she lays, but squawks constantly when someone else is in a nest.

How funny :D I guess sometimes my girl wants to be quite and other times she wants to screech.!

That's hilarious. My neighbor who is unfamiliar with chicken asked me if it was "the dog" making that noise. I had to tell her that "no"...it's the chickens that do that before and after they lay an egg. She responded with, "That's so funny!" but I'm not sure if she meant "funny-cute" or "funny-make them shut up because it annoys me". My barred rock is a total drama queen when it comes to laying. My EE is just noisy ALL the time.
