Laying on roost

Why did my silie lay its egg on the roost at night? I boght the chicken and was told it was 2 years old and is the fist egg that I have seen it lay. If you could tell me why my little white fluff layed on the roost that would be GREAT.

It happens. I've come to believe the hens don't always wake up in time to get to the nest box.
