laying pellets

I use pine shavings for nest boxes (smells good) and feed laying pellets for my girls.

I got told that the crumbles was like the mash in away. That the chickens really don't eat it because it is messy. The mash is a waste of money. This was by the kid who works at the feed store. The crumbles only came in 50 lb bags and was around $17.00

I don't seem to have a problem with it. Not sure about mash. And yes the Purina Flock Feed I buy is 50# for about $17.00. But I like it and so does a couple of my friends who have been raising chickens for several years--10-20+ years. But it is a personal decision...

We will have to try my girls on the crumbles, well it hurt my roo to eat the pellets or the crumble or do you feed them something else.

I second that, pellets definitely less waste than crumbles and I add some scratch and table scraps for variety....
