Please help! I'm new to raising chickens. I have mostly Ameraucana chickens. A two month old baby chick was given to me to be a buddy with an older chicken that my neighbors dog pulled her leg and she was limping. I confined them together and the older chicken is just fine and now the baby chick started limping, pulling her right leg to her chest and is not wanting to put any weight on it at all. Now she likes to lay on her left side and stretch out her legs to lay like a dog. Lol I'm doing therapy with both legs with movement, massaging and stretching doesn't bother her she goes to sleep. I've read the comments from other blogger's stating to put minerals in her water, therapy and with time she might get better. Her appetite is great love mangos, bread and chicken scratch food. She was also a free range chick. I'm afraid she's turning into a pet chick that thinks of me as her mother. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Definitely post in our emergency section. But do what ever you think will heal her. You might try standing her up for 10 mins a day in a container that she can not sit down in. Maybe help strengthen the leg. Use vitamins. You might try an infra red lamp bath on her daily. I have a male quail with sever arthritis from old age and his circulation has gotten really bad. So he gets an infra red heat lamp bath for 15 mins a day and this has really done wonders for his ability to walk. He got so bad he was flying to get around and couldn't walk. Infra red, not to be confused with a standard red bulb has healing properties. It is a very penetrating light spectrum wave length and gets deep into tissue reducing inflammation and improving circulation.

I hope you can get her back to health soon.
