Lazy Peachick

He gave 60 ml in the first tube feed...

Edited to add: he used 20 ml food and 40 ml pedialyte

Okay, so I just did my guy. His weight this morning is 1690 grams. I used two scoop water, one food, then added more food until it was a little thicker. Gave 60 ml, felt crop. Crop had slight bulge, so gave another 30 ml. Pretty sure one this size can have 60-90 ml per feeding if they weren't vomiting 50ml of just fluid. Make sense?

I was pretty sure mine was okay with the 90, so I went ahead and gave another 30, so as of 8 am California time he's had 120ml.

Tubing is part are, part science, and I tend to take more chances than I should, so you should probably not try this until you're sure he's good with the smaller amounts.

How frequently should the feedings occur?
This is where it can get confusing... mine got the 120, so I will probably do food one, *maybe* two more times today. Each time I will try to figure out the max that I can safely get into him. If his crop seems slow to empty, I will tube 60 ml fluids instead of food, which I may do anyways, just depends on what his poop looks like throughout the day.

My goal is for him to gain 5-10% of this mornings weight by tomorrow morning.

I've never sat down and figured out the number, so will work on that today. My goal for the next 16 hours is to get a total of 240ml of food water mix and 120ml of just water.

Current time in Kuwait is 7:38pm, so probably won't be able to get that much in the sick bird.

One think I read is that it's a good idea to let the crop clear overnight. I think reduces the likely hood of of them developing a yeast infection in their crop. Probably okay to give just fluids before going to bed.

I gave him total of 70ml, tried to feel his crop again, i felt some food was there, but can't be sure if he needs more or not, i'm not good yet at this, i will be lying if i said i know what i' doing

So if Othman has given 60 ml of the feed/pedialyte mixture twice, that's 120 ml. He could do another 60 ml two more times, or perhaps 90 ml, so 120 ml more, or 180 ml if he uses the higher dosage. That would make the 240 ml total of food/water mix for the day.

@q8peafowl , how much pedialyte did the bird have this morning before you started tubing the food? Did you give 30 ml or 60 ml this morning?

In english we say "better safe than sorry", so probably good to do more feedings with less food until you get the hang of it, but you're doing great!
