So as a little project I’ve been hatching eggs from my silver laced Wyandotte hen and my blue laced red Wyandotte rooster. I was wondering if I notice the chick is silver laced with a bit of gold leakage does that pretty much guarantee that it’s a male? I’m guessing it’s just a slight visual representation of them getting silver gene from mom and red/gold from dad. But could be wrong.
I’m not sure if my birds are set up for sex linkage (didn’t bother looking at the parents when I got them smart right) anyways my first hatch I had 3 eggs hatch. 3 silver laced one with gold leakage. All turned out to be cockerels. This time 5 hatched. 2 gold lace and 3 silvers which I noticed 2 have leakage. Starting to think the birds were set up for sex link chicks. Would be cool to be able to sexe them this early on.
Here’s a pic from the first hatch of what I’m calling leakage. Could be using wrong terms to aha
Not showing these guys or anything to serious. Just love the colours and thought I’d play around for a pet flock of pretty birds.
