I re-did the run where Cocoa was killed today. It took the better part of the day. Took all the hardware cloth and chicken wire off and started fresh. I still think that possum came through the gate, but I did find weaknesses overhead. It would have been hard for it to negotiate its way through the top - it was a tangled mess, which had been my intent when I first put it up - but it could have happened.

What we did today is much more secure. We had a fence come down in back, so we repurposed the steel tubing and used it as supports. John had bought a big roll of 6' heavy duty wire fencing at the farm auction a while back, and we used that to cover the top. Our original hardware cloth and chicken wire went on top of that, and everything is wired tightly together. Tomorrow I'll work on the gate. I'll extend it with some scrap metal we have lying around so there's no gap. Coffee and Snowdrop should be able to return outside by the afternoon. The silkies and Polish will stay inside for the time being until we're able to rework their enclosures as well.

Trust me, it's nothing fancy, just a 10' x 10' dog kennel. Our silkies have a gorgeous coop that John's dad built for us. Now that is the one I need to post pictures of. It's like a tiny house!
