Learning Process

Thanks! now to convince my girlfriend and family to start eating the eggs ;) My son LOVES them and my daughter will eat them no issues as long as no one mentions it.
I hear that duck eggs make great baked goods. I don't have any yet as my girls are too young - but soon I should have some.

It’s amazing the transformation . Be sure to keep pics coming so we can watch too
Plan on it!

I bought the parents as adults so I have no clue what the genes look. The first 10 ducklings 9/10 were yellow and the 10th was black. I have been told before and remember reading that they will change but i was curious to see what other thought.

My girlfriend has baked with them and the cakes have ALL been moist. Im not sure if she just had a run of good luck on her side or what, but it was just ironic that both cakes had the duck eggs in them! She just refuses to eat them cooked by themselves. I dont see too much difference bw them and chicken eggs, but they are bigger and richer.

Once you bake with duck eggs you never want to use chicken eggs for baking. But from early fall till spring Muscovy don’t lay so I have to use my chickens eggs.
Yes, That is the only downside i can think of lol. Luckily I have a few people lined up to sell eggs to and they said theyd be fine with chicken eggs till the hens start laying again. So eventually ill get some chickens as well but theyll never replace my muscovies!

Little ones are loving the pen i set up for them. I added in a little "pool" and they LOVE to make a mess with it. My son will pick them up and set them in it to watch them splash lol.

This used to be my pups pen till we got her on the electric fence so it worked out great. im using an old dog crate (not shown in the pic but i added a better plastic to keep out rain) so i can lock them up at night. Plenty of room and they enjoy the grass n bugs they find. Super cool to watch them waddle around the area!
