LeasureChix and Quail_Antwerp Admitting we have a problem hatchalong...

I already need to set up a second LG. I have near completely filled the forced air I'm using now.

My husband asked me, as I was putting Bantam Welsummer and Chocolate project Ameracauna eggs in my 'bator, if I had any more eggs coming.

Nope.

And then I jumped online and bid and won some BBS Orps .... oops LOL!

Oh boy, I may take your advice leasurechix, I have been watching a few Hot2Pot auctions

sunnyllama, I just noticed you're in NorthEast Ohio. I'm in Mid-Eastern Ohio...I guess that's the best way to describe it!

I'll be heading North East soon to pick up some runner ducks - I hope!

Yup, I'm just west of Cleveland. I actually got most of my eggs from Geneva area, they have a lot of farming out that way for some reason, many great wineries, too

Well, the first of my Bad Azz silkie chicks hatched today. 6 chicks have hatched so far. At least 1 is my homegrown. There are 3 blacks and 1 or 2 whites, plus my partridge. Another is a mystery. I'm hoping the rest of them get busy tonight.

I'm frantically putting together brooders. I have a bunch of chicks that are ready to go outside but I don't have a outdoor brooder set up for them. I bought a jig saw hoping to cut out the middle of some tote lids but it didn't go so well. I was going to replace the center of the lids with hardware cloth for indoor brooders.

While DH & I are gone next weekend my mom will be here taking care of the chickens. That's when my Lav Ameracaunas are due. I have a bunch of homegrown silkie eggs in that batch also. I need to make things as easy as possible for Mom. She's been around for my hatchings before, I'm sure she'll do fine.

Aly, how's your snow level?

Sunnyllama, go for it!

Woot!! Congrats on your hatchlings, Julie!! That's awesome!!

Not much snow here. I mean, we have snow, but it's not 6 ft deep LOL

We have rain and thunderstorms last night. Snow is starting to melt some.

Thank you Aly. There were more this morning. So far there are 5 blacks, 1 white, and 3 of my home grown. I'm hoping for more today. I just did a count on how many eggs I have coming, how many I already have waiting to be set and how much space I have in my bators.... ummmm.... Houston we have a problem! I am short at least 38 spaces! That's nearly a whole LG incubator! There is a used LG on CL but they want $75 for the bator & turner, I think that's a little high for used. Some of my eggs are being shipped today so I have until mid to late week to figure out what to do. If my new cabinet bator arrives early all I need is an extra turner. I know I could do hand turning but we are leaving for the weekend and my mom has dropped my eggs before. I'm more comfortable with just buying more equipment.

I'm glad we don't have snow. Snow is causing problems for one of our truck routes. It made a 7 hour run turn into 12 hours last night. Not good!

Do you have severe winter weather?

So far, the rest of my eggies seem to be doing Ok. There are 2 Bantam Wellie eggs I can't see into too well yet.

I'm 3 days in on the second batch of B.Wellie eggs and the Chocolate Project Ameracauna eggs. I cannot wait until hatch day!!

I am getting 10 Silver Dorking eggs from BeccaOh today to set for the Valentine Day hatch. I also have a dozen BBS Orp eggs coming from ShellyGa. :) I hope they hatch me lots of blacks! hehe
