My 8 chicks will be 4 and 5 days old on Friday and unfortunately, I have to go out of town for that night. I need to leave Friday morning and I'll return Saturday afternoon. Do you have any tips or suggestions since I'll have no one here to check on them?
I'll clean and replace all food, water and scoop out the poop Friday morning. Attached is a picture of their brooder box.

My advice is to get a feeder they can't scratch food out of depending on how much food you go through in a day. My jerk chicks will empty one like you have in a few hours. Not because they eat it, just cause they make a mess. I have another feeder they can't spill and boy has it saved me money. Your chicks may be too little to wreack that much havoc but I think if you can make sure they have enough food that they will be fine that amount of time.

Thanks! Could you show me an example of one? I'm all about saving money!

This is a creative idea I have saved. Haven't been able to make one yet, nor have I needed too, but when I brood in the future I'll definitely try it out.

I agree, as long as they have enough food and water, and the heater is reliable, I bet they'll be fine. They probably aren't old enough to jump out of it either. I'd also make sure they can't kick to many shavings into the water. Maybe raise it, or use a nipple cup waterer to avoid it getting so full of bedding?

Neat feeder ideas.
That bin is not really big enough for the number of chicks.
