Is it okay to give my pigeons a timed scheduled feeding for morning and evening instead of just leaving their food available all day? I heard that the best way to tame pigeons is with their food. But I’m worried that they might get hungry in between their meals. Any advice?

Absolutely. I always fed my birds twice daily. Morning and afternoon allowing them as much to eat as they could consume in 30 minutes. I did this with my breeding birds. Fliers were on a more controlled diet.
Hey thanks for the advice! This should help tame my pigeons. But does this timed feeding schedule of 30 minutes work only for poultry birds? What about small and large parrots? Would they need food all day?

It’s a good idea to feed them on a schedule also as it prevents them from wasting feed- given the choice they’ll pick out the seeds they like and fling the rest on the floor. Less waste is always a good thing!

I feed my pigeons in the morning the amount of food they’ll all eat within a day, so there’s no food leftover at night. When they’re hungry in the morning they’ll usually eat out of my hands, even the ex-feral ones.
