Leaving.....

You could buy them an automatic chicken door just to make sure they don't get bored. Make sure you have someone collecting the eggs so they don't develop some nasty habits!!!!!!

What? Egg-eating? (yipes) .....Now I have something else to worry about!!!!

I am really looking forward to our vacation...I'll only be gone for three days, but one of my girls pulls the feathers out of all the other ones, and I'm afraid than someone will start bleeding and get pecked apart....

I'm such an anxious mommy... (do you think they'll be okay?)

I had one who pulled another's butt naked - my 86 yr old mom reminded me that they used to 'clip beaks' in the old days . So I took my toenail clippers, and nipped a tiny bit off the top only of the beak. That left a little curved spot there, so the chicken could not hold onto any feathers, they slipped right through the beak! Worked wonders, free and painless, too. Just don't clip top AND bottom beaks, and don't go so far that it bleeds. That clip cured my chicken forever - never pulled feathers again. Hope it will work for you - - - -

Just clip off a tiny bit, the very sharpest tip of the upper beak. You'll know that it's enough when you look at it straight on and can see a little curved opening, enough for a feather shaft to slip through. It does not hinder eating, it does not hurt the chicken. It sure helps, though, keep everybody feathered. Let me know how it works for you!

Okay, Mom and I cliped a little off, but she seems to still be able to bite out feathers....Should we go even further? Do you have a picture of what it should look like after the trim?

Here she is.....After the trim....Think I should take a little more off?
