leg band fell off and I don't know what breed this is?

Hello,
I have 2 female ornamental birds that I got from China and I went out there to feed them this morning and the band around the leg has come off and I'm not sure if this is the red golden or the amherst. I think it's the amherst but need to make sure. If I need any other info please let me know. Thanks for your help

Can't help, sorry. I guess that the second of your ornamental birds didn't have a leg band that you could check and see which one you can identify.
Could the leg band have chafed her leg enough that you tell that way? Good Lock

Definetly an amherst hen,but why do you have blinders on them?And how did you get birds from China?If they are from china,they were surely be F1,2or3's.

Hello,
When I got them they kept chasing each other around and pecking at the backs so the breeder told me to put blinders on for awhile. I would like to take them off but not sure how to safely.
My bestfriend was stationed over in China and new I wanted some pure birds so I contacted the breeder there and when she came back to the states last year she brought me a pair or Amherest and Red Golden along with some eggs that I hatched.
Not sure what you mean by F1,2 or 3. They are pure. The parents are beatiful and very bright colors.

Can you also tell me how far away the males have to be from the females without them fighting over the hens. I did hatch some of the eggs and would like to keep some but I don't want to have fights or can I keep 2 males with 3 females.

It is a way to keep track of the bloodline all the way back to wild birds and the lower the number the closer to wild birds the individuals are. F stands for first generation wild bird and F1, 2 or 3 means how far removed from wild birds they are. F1 has both parents wild, F2 is all four wild grandparents, F3 is all 8 wild great grandparents and so on. It is very rare to see anything past an F2 because to keep finding unrelated first generation birds is almost impossible unless you have an unlimited number of pens to keep each bloodline separated. It also means that the parents are from of known imported bloodlines, if you breed an F1 to a domestic bird it is not an F2 and it breaks the lineage. Just because a bird is not an F-generation does not mean it is pure, and just because the birds came from China does not mean they are from wild adults or even pure bred birds. Breeders from everywhere have good and bad standards, just make sure you research the breeder you choose and you will have quality birds that are pure and breed true.
